How Zonda Home built a new data product on Dreambase, a Tableau alternative for housing data teams

How Zonda launched a new multi-million dollar product line in under a month, booked roughly $200K of revenue in the first thirty days, and did it with a two-person team.
Background
Zonda is the leading source of housing market intelligence in the US, providing builders, developers, mortgage professionals, and investors with advanced homebuilding databases and localized market data. When the team set out to bring a new analytics product to market for one of the largest home improvement retailers in the US, the question was not whether the data was there. It was how fast they could put it in front of customers.
The Challenge
The opportunity was clear, the customer was ready, and the internal clock was already running.
A traditional Zonda build for a product like this would have taken roughly a year, end to end. Doug Heady, SVP of Data Products at Zonda, did not have a year. He had one engineer (and not even full-time on the project), a waiting sales team, and a customer that wanted something they could see, click, and demo, not a raw data feed.
The team needed a way to ship a polished, production-grade analytics product without standing up new infrastructure, hiring a data team, or pulling Zonda's core engineers off the rest of the roadmap.
The Dreambase Solution
Doug and one part-time engineer built the product on Dreambase and were demoing it inside of a month. The sales team got so far ahead of the launch that the rollout had to play catch-up. Within thirty days of going live, Zonda had booked roughly $200K of revenue and sold the product into one of the largest home improvement retailers in the US. What shipped was not a side project. It was a new multi-million dollar product line for Zonda, built end to end by a team of two.
“Doing this the normal way would have taken us about a year. With Dreambase, we were demoing inside of a month and had it in the hands of more than a hundred salespeople.”
Doug Heady, SVP of Data Products, Zonda Home

The Results
A new multi-million dollar product line stood up in under a month, against an internal baseline closer to twelve months.
Roughly $200K+ in revenue booked within thirty days of launch, an early signal of the product line's run rate.
A two-person team built and shipped the entire product. One product lead, one part-time engineer, no new hires.
Sold into one of the largest home improvement retailers in the US, validating the product against an enterprise buyer from the first quarter.
“It was a two-person team. One engineer, not even full-time, and me. The old way would've meant Tableau, a data analyst, and a year of runway. Dreambase was the data team we never had to hire.”

Why it matters
Zonda's launch is what operating lean actually looks like. The standard playbook assumes you need a data team, a long roadmap, and a six-figure engineering budget to ship a serious analytics product, let alone an entirely new product line. AI-native analytics on Dreambase changes that math. Teams get production-ready Dashboards, Reports, and customer-facing analytics directly from their data, in days instead of quarters, and that is enough to launch real revenue lines.
You don't need to hire a data team. You need a connection to your data and a deadline.
