How Zonda Home built a new data product on Dreambase, a Tableau alternative for housing data teams

Dreambase Helps Zonda Ship a New Analytics Product in 30 Days
Zonda is the leading source of housing market intelligence in the US, providing builders, developers, mortgage professionals, and investors with advanced homebuilding databases and localized market data.
Doug Heady, SVP of Data Products, had an opportunity to bring a new product to market for one of the largest home improvement retailers in the US. This opportunity required him to take disparate Zonda data and deliver it via dashboards for the customer to utilize as part of their operations. He had the data, but needed more product resources to put the product in front of customers quickly.
Then he found Dreambase.
Dream to Reality
Dreambase provided Doug with a fleet of AI data agents that could work like a data team. He connected his Supabase DB, selected his data sources, created skills, and described the analyses he needed. From there Dreambase delivered bespoke dashboards that he could deliver to customers quickly.
Here’s what he entered: “Analyze contractor-builder relationships by joining builders and contractors through permits and properties. This allows you to rank top contractors by builder volume and job value, segmented by state, city, or CBSA for regional insights.”
Dreambase generated a complete dashboard from that: KPI tiles for total selections, builder count, contractor count, and averages; a ranked chart of top contractors by selection frequency; a top builders view; a project type breakdown; and a fully searchable, sortable table of every builder-contractor pair in the dataset, with state and project type filters.

For the second dashboard: “Analyze the relationship between homebuilders, contractors, and new home construction projects. Track permit activity, job values, and geographic distribution across subdivisions and properties. Identify which contractors work with specific builders and filter by project types to focus on new residential developments.”
That became a contractor licensing overview with contractor counts by state, active license rates, license status splits, and contractor type rankings.

“Doing this the normal way would have taken us about a year. With Dreambase, we were demoing inside of a month and had it in the hands of more than a hundred salespeople.”

The Results
A new multi-million dollar product line stood up in under a month, against an internal baseline closer to twelve months.
Roughly $200K+ in revenue booked within thirty days of launch, an early signal of the product line's run rate.
A two-person team built and shipped the entire product. One product lead, one part-time engineer, no new hires.
Sold into one of the largest home improvement retailers in the US, validating the product against an enterprise buyer from the first quarter.
“It was a two-person team. One engineer, not even full-time, and me. The old way would've meant Tableau, a data analyst, and a year of runway. Dreambase was the data team we never had to hire.”

Enterprise Ready
Zonda's launch is what modern AI operations enable. The old playbook assumed you needed a data team, a long roadmap, and a six-figure engineering budget to ship a serious analytics product, let alone an entirely new product line. AI-native analytics on Dreambase has changed that math. Teams get production-ready dashboards, reports, and customer-facing analytics directly from their data in hours instead of quarters, and that is enough to launch real revenue lines.
Doug continues to build on Dreambase for exactly that reason. The first product validated the approach worked, and now new features are unlocking more possibilities for data products. Custom agentic skills, new data connectors, and upcoming external connections make Dreambase readily available for any data product Zonda can dream up.
"What keeps us coming back is how fast we can iterate and how easily it connects to whatever data we're working with. We're not locked into one source or one workflow. We can bring in new data and have something worth showing in a matter of days."
